Patients should have nothing to eat or drink, including water, for six (6) hours prior to surgery.
Patients should wear loose clothing, especially around the neck and arms. Pleasewear a short-sleeved shirt or blouse.
Patients should remove contact lenses, jewelry, nail polish and dental appliances prior to their appointment.
A responsible adult (age 18 or older) must remain in the office during the patient’s appointment.
A responsible adult (age 18 or older) must drive the patient home and remain with the patient until the effects of the sedation have worn off.
Patients should not drive or operate machinery for twenty-four (24) hours following surgery.
Patients should refrain from drinking alcohol and taking sedative medications for twelve (12) hours before and after the procedure.
Patients should continue taking their usual medications as prescribed for other conditions only after consultation with the dentist administering the sedation. Such medications should be taken with minimal water if there is a morning or pre-sedation dose.
